Clematis WIP 4 and Red Bubble Feature

Here is the 4th update of my clematis watercolor. It is coming along slowly, especially since I did not have a chance to paint at all yesterday.  I have touched up the center of the flower and have put in darks at the bottom of the center. (The picture was taken inside.) So far so good, I think. Do you agree?

I was quite pleased to learn that my Pink Peony had won a feature on Red Bubble in the group "Peony Perfection" which focuses more on photography than painting.
I hope that you are nice and warm...here in Ottawa it was -25 Celsius (minus 13 F) this morning and it will be -32Celsius overnight ( minus 26 F.). Brr...that's a bit chilly :-)

    Yes, i agree. Totally! It is coming along nicely Christiane. I am sorry it is so cold in Ottawa for you. We had our -30 last week and today it is supposed to be above zero all day. Such a relief. Did you resolve your rose color problem? You have some real lovely violets and purples happening here. Not sure if you have Quinacridone Violet or not but i found it makes gorgeous violets when mixed to varying degrees with Cobalt Blue. The brand i use is M.Graham but other brands may have it. Can't wait to see the finished painting! You've inspired me to do a WIP myself! Happy Painting!

    Hi Ross,I followed your advice and went out and bought some more Permanent Rose on Friday. I have mixed it with Windsor Violet and I like it. I don't have any Quin Violet...I am not sure that I have ever seen it. I will check online. M. Graham along with Daniel Smith are two brands that are not carried in Ottawa as far as I know. I have heard that the yellows and pinks of M. Graham are superb - they contain honey, I believe.
    I can't wait to see your WIP!

    Congrats on the Red Bubble! The Clematis WIP is going to be stunning! Just love your work, Beautiful.
    It is cold here in Georgia and we have had snow twice this year already. I cannot imagine the temperatures you are posting! Major BRRR! Stay warm!

    Thank you, Kathy and Pam! Today is much warmer than last night...Currently, it is a balmy minus 25C or minus 13F :-)

    Absolutely I agree -- the work is coming along beautifully. Congratulations -- you are so successful on Red Bubble -- they know good art!

    I wish I could send you some of our warmth. We've had a warm spell here in San Jose -- it's getting close to 70F in mid-days but nights do drop to about 40F. Bob and I are enjoying cycling and mountain biking while it lasts.

    Oooo...that is tooo cold!!!! This is coming along beautifully. Just remain patient with it - work on something more loose if you need to loosen up a bit and go back to this. Remember to treat every petal as an individual painting and vary those colors inside the petals so we gets lots of variety and nothing turns dull and flat. You're doing great!
