Finally, here is an update of my Pink Peony: I have now completed - for the time being anyway- the background and the leaves. I have tried to keep the light mostly on the right hand side. I hope that these leaves don't look too overworked.
What do you think?
I can't wait to start adding some color to the petals.
Looking good! Great job on the leaves.
ReplyDeletewill enjoying seeig this develop WIP christiane
ReplyDeleteLovely depth of field between the leaves and the background. Leaves don't look at all overworked to me :)
ReplyDeleteI too have been enjoying your wip. Can't wait to see this pink peony finished. I like this green you are using for the leaves.
ReplyDeleteJane, I hope to be able to make progress on the petals today.
ReplyDeletePat, thank you for the support.
Nora, for the greens, I used hookers green and Permanent green mixed with cobalt blue, gamboge and yellow ochre.
ReplyDeleteI know that I am now procrastinating about starting the petals...they look so nice in my mind that I know that they can't be half as nice on paper:-)
Great leaves! I know what you mean about seeing the finished painting inside your head - it's very scary! But wonderful when it all falls together and the world can see it too!!! Take a deep breath and dive in!!!
ReplyDeleteStrangley, putting in the leaves has helped us see the deep greens in the background - or was it a lighter photo? Good luck with the pink washes and you know, they 'can be more than half as nice again as in your mind once on paper'!! We know that because we believe in your talent - so should you.
ReplyDeleteDeb, you are right about some aspects of artistic creation being scary. I have to keep telling myself that the sky won't fall on me if I ruin a painting:-)
ReplyDeleteJoan, you are so very, very kind. Thank you!
I don't think that there was a very big difference in the two pictures: the green in the background is certainly showing up a bit more now.
coming along beautifully
ReplyDeleteChristiane, I think it rocks! Excellent background, the leaves are wonderful. How did you find the video was it well done? I just ordered her latest one of the still life, her painting is awesome.
ReplyDeleteKrista, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI loved the video. Jacqueline has a very casual manner and you really have the impression that you are really right there with her. You are so much more advanced than I am, so the video would not teach you as much. Her still life is too much for me, I'm afraid:-)but I have just received her video "My favorite things": a strawberry, a magnolia and tulips. Next time I am due for a gift from myself to myself, I will order the video on the iris.
I really appreciate your encouragement and your taking the time to stop by.
