An Acrylic Abstract and Another in Aquatic Series

I have just had my aquatic series framed. The only one that you have not yet seen is "Fallen Angels" inspired by a WetCanvas photo. It is on Ampersand Claybord and measures 12" x 9" without the black floating frame. I tried to create a veil of mystery especially on the left-hand side where a small layer of water and mist are covering the leaves. I hope I succeeded.

The next painting is totally different.  It was started in Vermont at the beginning of the month when I took an acrylic workshop with Linda Kemp: we played with all the Holbein acrylic products. During the workshop, we simply created the textures and I painted the 11" x 14" canvas last week.

I don't have a title for it yet. Any suggestions?

I wish you a wonderful weekend.

  1. Fallen Angels is a beautiful piece, this series is going to look amazing all framed up. No name suggestions, I struggle with naming pieces myself :-)

    1. Hi, Bren. I am glad that you like this piece...I think it's the best of the series so far.
I have no trouble usually name my more realistic pieces, but naming an abstract is tough:-)
I am going to add your blog to my blog roll this weekend; otherwise, I am late seeing your new posts.
      Have a great weekend.

  3. Gorgeous!! I love that textured "abstract" piece. I'm fascinated with pictures which incorporate 3D elements and even collage. I will have a go soon, I made some canvas boards today.

  4. "Snap" to what Vicki said. Your acrylics are awesome. You succeeded very well with the veil of mystery. I love it. Beautifully done. Your other piece reminds me of something stone age. I see a figure dancing. Great work Christiane.

    1. As always, I really appreciate your great support, Ross. I do see that figure dancing also...maybe that will give me a direction for choosing a title. Have a great Sunday.

  5. Chritiane, you are very good with acrylics. I love your abstract and I admire Linda Kemp's work, too. Must have been a great workshop in the state of my youth (Vermont). I thought of "Nature's Patterns" but I think that is not very exciting! You are on a very interesting artistic journey.

    1. Hi, Mary. Vermont is such a beautiful state: everything looks so clean and serene and the landscape is a painter's dream.
Linda Kemp's workshop was fantastic, although much too short. She is not only a great artist, but also a great teacher. I would love to take a longer workshop with her in the next year or so.
Thank you for your encouragement concerning the acrylics. I still need lots and lots of practice, but I am enjoying them. Thank you for the title...actually, I may just use it for a painting that I am working on now.

Take care and enjoy what is left of the summer.

  6. You are really doing very good in acrylic. The pieces shown here are great. I hope you won't forget your watercolors because you have also done fantastic paintings using the medium. So sorry I can't help you in giving title because I also strugglein naming my own work.

I am glad that you like my work in acrylic; I don't intend to stop working in watercolor, but at the moment I find the acrylics so exciting:-)

  7. I like both of these - the first looks cold, perhaps a bit of ice freezing over the water? That's due to the blue. The second, very interesting - looks like a cave painting, perhaps a title like Ancestor's Dance or something like that. It's very good - makes me want to stay with it and look longer.

    1. Hi, Rhonda. It's so nice to hear from you! You are absolutely right about the cold and ice of the first painting. I really like your suggested title for the second one...thank you! I think I like the abstract also, but it's harder for me to evaluate the quality of an abstract.
I'm glad that you have stopped by.

  8. How lovely just to experiment with textures, the second does look like a cave painting. There are some fabulous cave paintings in France at lascaux,it reminds me of them.

    1. Yes, it does look like a bit like a cave painting. For that reason, I have finally decided on the following title: " Dance of the Ancestral Spirits".
