I have just completed the Parliament Building Carving I. It's only 7.5" x 7.5' approx. on Fabriano Artistico SP. I went for a sun-drenched look contrasting with shadows in the recessed areas where I created a lot of textures.
I will have to live with it for a few days before I can decide if i like it enough to continue with my intended series of such carvings.
this one turned out beautifully christiane ..will make a wonderful series .
ReplyDeleteJane, I am very pleased that you like it...I am still somewhat ambivalent about it, perhaps because of the colors...perhaps I simply prefer working in a larger format where more subtle details are possible. But, I certainly appreciate your support!
DeleteSince you can't decide, I'll decide for you - YES! - you should definitely pursue this series. Perhaps paint some larger if that's what you are not sure about. But this subject is such a unique thing to paint - go for it! And series are fun anyway - by the time you are through you will be a "master painter of carvings"!
ReplyDeleteWell, Deb, that matter has been decided then:-) I will tackle the second one in the series.Thank you for the support and encouragement, Deb.
DeleteHave enjoyed catching up with your adventures this morning! Glad you are going to continue with the series - larger maybe?
ReplyDeleteLove your coconut painting with it's rich color! These carvings look like fun and I'm eager to see the next post!
Thank you, Rosemary! It's nice to hear from you. I'm glad that you liked the Coconut painting.
DeleteYes, I will certainly go larger for the next pieces.
Sorry to be out of touch for so long, Christiane...got that Fla trip coming up and it's taken a lot of time. I LOVE these hot colors...you should definitely keep this series going. What is it about him that you're not happy with? I love the blending and drama...the drawing itself is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSplash is going to be so wonderful! Wish I could be there:-)
ReplyDeleteI am very glad that you like the Warrior; What I don't like about him: it's probably that I am not used to those "psychedelic" colors:-) However,I value your opinion and since you and Deb Ward among others, are encouraging me to continue with this series, that's what I am doing. After the Warrior, I am tackling a lion:-)
Have a wonderful Florida trips and post a lot of pictures and demos.
Take care, Mollie, and thank you for taking time to encourage me.
I love this sun-drenched look! I'm glad you're continuing the series!
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that you like this one, Theresa. I truly appreciate your support!
