I currently have several paintings in the Xmas Show at Foyer Gallery. My next show will be at the same gallery starting the first week of January and it will be entitled "The Art of the Matter". Here is the poster for this show:
You will recognize my watercolor "Into the Lion's Den" at the bottom right. I have just received this painting back from the framer and it looks very good under glass with a white mat and a black metal frame.
This painting has just been featured on the Red Bubble site in the group The Best of Red Bubble:
I have not been posting new works in the past few weeks; I have been experimenting with acrylics, collage, pouring and abstracts and have nothing worth posting so far:-) Today, I am starting a 20" X 24" acrylic abstract for my daughter. It is a commission from her, but if it turns out ok and I can get it all down this week, it will become a Xmas present....There is a lot of wishful thinking here since I am a realist painter by temperament and experience and have never been very happy with the results I have achieved with acrylics...Wish me luck:-)
In case I don't have a new post before Dec. 25th, I want to offer all my best wishes for the Holiday Season to all my blogging friends.
Well first off congratulations on a wonderful last year and the new year is off with a flourish! My eye went right to your painting- Into the Lions Den...love that one! Just have fun with the one for your daughter and I just bet it will be amazing! Merry Christmas and Happy Everything! Take care:)
ReplyDeleteKathy, thank you for your great support during the last year. I appreciated it so much! Talking about a wonderful year, think of all that you have achieved with leaps and bounds! Amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe Lion's Den looks rather good framed...as for my daughter's painting, well, I will do my best:-)
Good luck in the show and so glad 2011 has been a good year for you. I hope 2012 carries on that tradition.
ReplyDeleteA very merry Christmas to you and yours xx
Congratulations on your successes, you deserve them all! Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeletePat, thank you for your kindness! I wish you and yours all the best for 2012
ReplyDeleteJeanette, thank you... although my successes are very small:-)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you also and all the best for 2012
Christiane, I love the Lion's Den piece and it certainly has shades of abstraction in the background. Nice job. I don't doubt that with continued work you will be just as successful in acrylics as you are in watercolor. Also, I am so impressed with all the shows you have done.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Mary, for your support.
ReplyDeleteAs for the shows, several are with the Foyer Gallery: they have a new show every 3 weeks and as a permanent member I am committed to showing about 3 paintings every 6 weeks at least. I showed 5 at one and 6 at another. Since a painting can be shown only once there in a 2-yr period, I certainly need to keep producing! I really like having this pressure - otherwise, I am sure that I would become lazy:-)
Take good care of yourself and all the best to you and yours for the Holiday Season.
I like hearing about the experimentation. To me, artists are explorers, and I like the idea of once gaining control over something, moving on. My comfort zone is not knowing what I'm doing, that's where intuition comes into play - the nitty gritty of creative expression. Think big, onward and and upward!
ReplyDeleteHi Nick, thank you for your encouragement. I'm thinking big, but the onward and upward part is tough:-)
ReplyDeleteChristiane, wishing you much success for the upcoming show.
ReplyDeleteI also want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a fruitful and prosperpous 2012.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Christiane! Good Luck with your show...
ReplyDeleteAnn, thank you for the good wishes. I also wish you health and joy for 2012.
