Well, I will stop fiddling with this painting. I did not do a very good job with the yellow glow and the stamens, but I will consider this finished.
It may not look too much like Jacqueline Gnott's masterpiece, but I certainly learned a lot while painting this. I think I would now be ready to tackle my own peony and dark background. I highly recommend this great DVD, The Queen, by Jacqueline Gnott!
Thank you all for your patience and your support during this "virtual workshop" that I followed.
Now, what to paint next....?
I hope that you are all having a great weekend.
Christiane I think you did a wonderful job and I appreciate you bravely sharing this WIP with us. I know that Jacqueline will be very proud of you. I don't have this video yet but I do have the 1st rose and the pears in the basket so I need to get busy and give them a try.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Vicki, for your kind words. I have just sent Jacqueline a picture of this painting...I hope that she won't just shake her head in disappointment:-)
ReplyDeleteThis peony DVD is super. I have watched it at least three times from start to finish and I know that I will watch it again.
I am currently looking for a reason to buy myself another gift and order Jacqueline's DVD of a tulip, strawberry and magnolias - I love magnolias.
I hope that you will tell us a bit about the other two DVDs that you have.
Take care,
Christiane
Christiane, it is beautiful. It has been wonderful to watch the progress and the choices you made.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to your magnolia gift DVD work! ;-)
Beautiful work you did on this, Christiane. It looks super.
ReplyDeleteEarthula and Ann, thank you very much! I looked at the painting this morning in daylight, and I have to say that I am pleased. I am off to making a drawing of a peony from another picture...let's see what I can do without the help of the DVD :-(
ReplyDeleteExcellent job - I'm sure Jacqueline will think so too! You don't want to completely copy, but integrate your own technique into the painting, too - which you accomplished.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this very encouraging comment, Deb. I truly appreciate the support.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work here, background is amazing and composition is also great!
ReplyDeleteWow, have I enjoyed following you along with these posts of the DVD exercise and now to see the finished work is wonderful. I truly believe you have created a stunning piece of work. Your comment that its not 'exactly' like Jacqueline is a good thing because I am sure she would not like lots of little cloned Jacquelines all over the place. We all learned from your experience of using her technique, for which I thank you, but at the same time it has your own stamp on it.
ReplyDeleteFabio. I really appreciate your taking the time to stop by my blog and to comment. I am not taking any credit for the composition since this painting is from Jacqueline Gnott's DVD workshop, but I am very pleased that you liked my results.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Joan, for your kind words and for patiently staying with me during the progress of this painting. I have now started a new peony painting from a picture I found on WetCanvas. I can't wait to see how this one will turn out.
ReplyDeleteyou have done a great job on this Christiane
ReplyDeleteGary, thank you for taking the time to visit and to comment. Your words are very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteChristiane, this is a stunning piece. You did Jacqueline proud! Always there is that moment when we wonder what to paint next. How about another floral using a different flower, such as a rose, calla lilly, or orchid.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comments when I travelled East for a few weeks. I am finally returning to the blog world.
It's beautiful. I am sure Jacqueline will be very pleased with your work. Great job.
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeletethank you as always for stopping by. I have started a new painting, another peony with a much less complicated background. I want to practice what I learned from Jacqueline's video. I have finished the background and have started on the buds...I hope to get in enough painting time this weekend to finish it. I will post unless it is too horrible...
Joan, thank you so much for your very kind words. I hope that you will visit again.
This is just gorgeous! I really like seeing your WIP too. Looks like you've learned a lot. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Deb. I certainly did learn a lot...I will certainly order more DVDs from Jacqueline!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paintng, Christiane. The progression was really interesting...makes me want to go out and buy the DVD for myself. Jackie will certainly approve of your work.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Mollie. Your encouraging words mean a lot to me. I was very pleased to see that Jacqueline posted my painting on her site. The DVD is really good. I will buy another of Jacqueline's DVDs as soon as I have mastered a bit more what I have learned from this one.
