Anonymous in Spain: Featured in Art at its Best

Red Bubble has just featured my  Anonymous in Spain watercolor in the Art at its Best group.
This is an riginal watercolour painting on Arches 140lb cold pressed watercolour paper that I painted probably over a year ago at least.I  used DaVinci and W&N professional grade paints and the finished painting is approximately 14 ” X 19”. I used a  photo reference from WetCanvas, an online artist community. Most of the painting was done with the pouring technique.

An old lady hides her identity and her thoughts under a dark umbrella while the Spanish sun is pouring into the stone arcade. Let your imagination provide a face, a soul and a purpose…

Love the title and congratulations on the well deserved feature on RB.
I love your inclusion of the poetic description, it resonates with me.. Let your imagination provide a face, a soul and a purpose…

  6. Yes indeed, this piece surely tells a tale - narrative painting I believe its called. Very strong blues for the darks compare greatly with those soft warm shadow colours you put into your lovely shutters piece which were inspirational.

  9. thanks for sharing your beautiful work! The development photos are particularly interesting, I don't do much in watercolor, but the process is still very informative.

  10. Kaylyn, I am so glad that you stopped by. I visited your great blog site and see that you have provided some development pictures as well. I especially liked those of the mountain goat. I will visit again and I hope that you will also drop in once in a while.

  11. Christiane - as usual your pouring just absolutely glows and I love the combination of colors you have used for this one. The angles and perspective just draw you in to this one.

  12. Thank you very much, Barb. I truly appreciate your comment. I painted this painting over a year ago and used a higher percentage of pouring than I have used in my latest paintings. I may return to this approach.
