Update 4: Almost done

This latest picture was taken with a flash and does not represent the colors 100% accurately.

I have done the ironwork ( tougher than I thought:-), have removed all the masking, added clothespins for a few dots of color. I still have to put in the clothesline - will probably use white acrylic for that - and all the finishing details especially around the whites where the masking was.

From a distance, this painting is quite nice:-) . I am getting tired of looking at it though and I am looking forward to painting something quite simple next.

  3. Cindi and Nora, I really appreciate the support. I found this painting to be a tough one. But, yes I am almost done. The shadows and the clothes are indeed the best part of the painting. I may do some severe cropping to really focus on that....

    I attended a demo tonight by a Golden Acrylic representative. Wow! so many possibilities even in combination with watercolors! I will be awake all night I am sure thinking of various mixed media effects:-)

  4. Love the softness of the colors. What about scraping in the clothesline with an Xacto knife rather than paint it in - the line might fade in and out and offer more interest???

  5. Deb, thank you for stopping by and giving me such a great suggestion. The scraped line would probably be a lot less distracting than the acrylic line...and my watercolor would not get the purists upset:-)

  6. Hi Christiane;
    Thank you for stopping by my blog today and for your very encouraging words. I'm so glad you liked my painting. I love this painting as well, and have done clothes lines many times because i think they really are interesting and make for a wonderful painting. I think you nailed the shadow behind the clothesline. Well done!
