Mother's Day and other fun stuff

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers. I have just received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my daughter and I am about to go and visit my 92 year old mother who is such an inspiration to me: she has her own apartment, she still drives, she cooks, sews and paints. And she never complains!

This past week, I was so busy at work that I had no energy left at night to paint. However, I did purchase a new painting gadget: a mouth atomizer. I tried it on an old painting and on matboard. I think that I will have fun with this new toy. I will post pictures of any successful experiment. Are any of you using a mouth atomizer for your paintings, either as the main technique or to add finishing touches?

This week, I also received a DVD that I had ordered from Jacqueline Gnott: the Queen - painting a white peony. I have watched it twice and now will probably do the "paint-along" with Jacqueline.

I wish you all a great week.
Christiane

  1. Have fun with the mouth atomizer! I've only used mine a couple of times, still prefer a light mist from a spray (not enough lung capacity!!!) I look forward to seeing the paint-along with Jacqueline's DVD, her work is amazing.

  3. Deb and Rhonda,
I promise to post my poor attempts at using the atomizer and following Jacqueline's expert brushstrokes. It may be very humbling for me:-)

  5. Thank you, Mary. I have ordered two more DVDs from Susie Short this time...I have dozens of hours of painting ahead if I want to do all three paint-alongs.

  8. Vicki, so far, I have just managed to spray my kitchen wall instead of my paper, but I will keep trying:-)

Joan, oh boy...you are poetic :-)I will play with this new toy until I can produce something worth showing.

The lily was part of the bouquet I received from my daughter...it is only a picture at this point, but I may decide to paint it one of these days.

  10. Srishti, I have only played once or twice with it so far. I am sure that I will eventually use it...I think it offers a lot of possibilities. I found it at my local art supply store for just a few dollars.
