Back from vacation!

I have just returned from my vacation with exactly 1000 pictures for future inspiration :-) We went to Venice with a short side-trip to Florence, Sienna and San Gimignano ( see background in photo below.
The temperature was fine, but unfortunately, we did not have any sun for the first half of the trip. The only unfortunate incident was that my hotmail account was partially hacked in Venice and everyone in my contact list received a spam message... apparently from me!

I quickly worked on Venetian Shutters this has been dragging for too long and it's time to move on. I will put it aside temporarily before I sign it. I find this painting very "busy" and am craving for some simple, uncluttered scene.

It's nice to be back and to catch up with your blogs and your work. Monday, it's back to work at the office for 9 hours a day :-)

  1. Welcome back!
Wow 1000 pictures.. that’s incredible but i can believe it!
For la bella Italia is a picture at every turn.. especially Venice!
Did you remember my request? I dearly hope so.. hehehe
    I miss Her!
Look forward to the next instalment in the series.

  2. That sure is some store of photos for future projects. .. but every turn is a stunning shot isn't it?
Seems like you needed that great break from the 9 - 5 job. You do well to fit in as much blogging, and painting of course, as you do.

  3. Perugina, I fulfilled your request as soon as I got to Venice:-)

Joan, there is indeed a stunning shot at every turn in Italy. I was in fact surprised to see that I had not taken more pictures than that:-). The blogging and the painting are a great stress relief from my hectic job; I absolutely need that creative outlet.

    It's nice to be back.

  4. Christiane, I do hope you come back to this piece sometime in the future -- such potential. I know that sometimes you just need to set something aside for a while and suddenly, the resolution comes to you.

Your trip sounds fabulous, even minus the sun. I adore Italy and Venice. I've been to Italy several times and to Venice on all but one trip.

I look forward to some wonderful pieces done from your stash of photos.

  5. I am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful paintings that will result from those 1000 photos you have taken...what a treat for us!

  6. Mary, I want to be able to look at this painting with fresh eyes. I may decide to leave it almost as it. I am ready for a change of pace:-)

Barb, you are too kind. Some people are probably saying: "Oh, no! 1000 more paintings of Venetian buildings! We can't take any more!" :-)

  7. Nice to see you back and hope your vacation was very peaceful and happy. Will wait to see what you decide to do with this painting.

  8. Nora, my vacation was indeed very happy and relaxing. Thank you!
As for the painting, I am thinking about finishing it with some splatter on the yellow wall and on the water. What do you think?

  9. I love this painting - especially the green water. As usual, your colors are exceptional.

  10. Barb, I really appreciate your encouraging comment. Thank you!
