Pierre, the Green Man -WIP part 2 + fun mixed media

"Pierre the Green Man" is progressing. It is slightly more than 50% done.

Since this is a commission, I really want to get the best resemblance to the original carving. Here is one of the photos that I am working from...
Do you think that I am close enough to the original on the left hand side of the painting?

Working on commissions make me tense, so to relieve tension I have been doing some fun mixed media: here is one that is almost finished of an Inukshuk.
It's 8" X 10" on a 1.5" cradled board; it has an acrylic background with texture and design of tissue paper, molding paste, metallic foils, metallic paint.  I think it's cute:-)

    1. Hi, Rhonda. This WIP is taking me a lot of time; it's often difficult to see from my pictures what the details are in the stone. I really do need those "tension-release" pieces: I'm glad that you like them.

  4. Hi Christiane. This is coming along very nicely. I just love the color choices you've made, especially for the shadow areas.

Yes, commissions are a tad stressful. It once took me 18 months to complete one, because i had so much trouble getting to it. You are doing so much better. :)
The Inukshuk is lovely too. What a great idea! You are so diverse! Oh, and give birches a try Christiane. I think you would do a smashing job on them. Happy painting!

    1. Hi Ross, my famous friend:-) Yes, it is typical of artists I think to procrastinate on commissions...after all, we feel that we are not painting to please just ourselves:-) I really hope to finish this painting in a week or so.
I am glad that you like the Inukshuk; in the past two months I have sold several small paintings similar to that one. People really seem to like them and since they don't take me as long as a watercolor, they are quite affordable.
I certainly will have to try birches when my 3 commissions are completed.
Your encouragement always gives me a nice boost.
      Take care.

  6. Coming along beautifully - congrats on the commissions, but they are the hardest to do. Also like the small multi-media pieces you are doing - they really do look like fun!
